Windows Mobile Applications Testing

Windows Mobile platform is one of the oldest systems still present on the market. Its market share has been decreasing recently, but, nevertheless, it has 2% of the worldwide smartphone market and about 24% of corporate user mobile applications market.

Current versions of the Windows Mobile are 6.1 and 6.5. Beside that, Microsoft has announced the release of the 7th Windows Mobile version under the new brand, Windows Phone 7. Its commercial release is expected at the end of the year 2010, which enables mobile application vendors to get ready to proceed onto the new version, with the developer’s suite SDK having already been accessible for company’s partners.

When testing Windows Mobile applications we use mobile terminals by HTC and Samsung, and combine them with official Microsoft emulation programs. Also, we have developed some utilities and solutions for efficient and detailed testing WinMobile applications, e.g. Windows mobile emulator plus GPS emulator, that enables us to automate tests connected to locally based services and navigation.
